Our Club's membership is open to anybody interested in RC Sailing.

The Gold Coast Radio Yacht Club Inc. is a stable, non-profit Club, affiliated with the Queensland State body being the Queensland Radio Yachting Association (QRYA) which is affiliated with the National body, being the Australian Radio Yachting Association (ARYA).

Beginning on the 1st of March 2023, our Club's membership fees are $20.00 per year from which $9.00 goes to QRYA for administration and insurance purposes.

  • Members from other Clubs are welcome to join us, for whatever the reason, as "Multi Club" members for $10.00 to help cover the added expenses, e.g. excessive coffee\tea drinking during the year should they participate on a regular basis.

  • All members, be they be "full" or "multi-club" members can participate in meetings that are held from time to time at the pond - e.g. offer ideas/input.

  • NB: the only criteria to this being that only "fully paid up" members of GCRYC Inc. are allowed to vote on all matters relating to the Club's welfare.

  • There are no daily sailing fees imposed by the Club.

  • The club supplies all the coffee or tea you can handle.

Regretfully, due only to the very numerous varieties, our Club must ask that you supply your own biscuits\cakes and drinking vessels!

Our Club's History

RC sailing at Lake Laguna began some years prior to the Club being formed as a "non-profit" Club and was then incorporated within the ARYA and QRYA.

The Gold Coast Radio Yacht Club Inc. was formally registered in Queensland as a "non profit" Club on 2nd December 1996.

We hear that our Club's history goes back to circa 1990 with wind vane boats!

The Gold Coast Radio Yacht Club is possibly one of the oldest RC Sailing Clubs in Australia!

Our Club has sailed on this location from the Club's inception.

Since inception, through to 2005 thereabouts, numerous regional and State regattas were held on Lake Laguna.

It needs to be highlighted that the Club's very existance could not have occurred without the input\assistance given by the Gold Coast City Council, with special reference to Councillor Daphne McDonald.

Daphne is regarded by all Club members, since inception, as being our Club's "Matron".
